Poster Design

Various personal projects consisting of making poster designs - primarily for my Instagram page.

First project was one I set myself during October 2021, challenging myself to make concept posters for 3 of my favourite scary movies. Using elements from the films such as colour symbolism, visual symbolism and underlying tone I created these posters with my own understanding of the films as my base. Then as with all good personal projects I wanted to let my creative freedom roam, whilst still wanting to in-keep with the horror poster style.

Below those posters are ones I made with much lighter subjects - a song by The 1975, and a fictional coffee shop in one of my all time favourite video games, Animal Crossing.

With the poster for Love Me, I reflected the band's theming for the album, which consists of pink and fun, whilst still with an undertone of indie melancholy - something The 1975 specialises in. One element I particularly like in this poster is the illustration of the wine glass with a cigarette stubbed out in it. I included this as when I saw The 1975 live back in 2015, the lead singer (Matty Healy) was prone to drinking red wine on stage as I saw this quite a strong symbol for 'indie sleaze'.

The Roost poster was made in celebration of the long awaited return of the character Brewster (a pigeon barista) in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I wanted to create something that would double as a piece of video game 'fan-art' and an appealing decorative piece, that even people who aren't fans of Animal Crossing could appreciate.
